To make one of these pendants you’ll require: a Scrabble tile, a silver plated bail, some decorative cardstock, Diamond Glaze adhesive, jewelry adhesive (E6000 or super glue), scissors, a pencil, and a paint brush (optional). Scrabble Tile Collage Pendants

This video talks about scrabble collage pendants. To be honest I have no idea why the little girl falls down at the start, then a chicken starts to yell. Can you skip past part of a utube video?

Anyway – I thought it was good about the scrabble collage. Thanks.

Buy Scrabble Tile Pendants

Where to buy scrabble tile pendants?

That is a good question. LOL I have bought so many you are totally asking the right person.

There are many places you can buy these pendants.

First off you can look online to find where to buy them. Many different stores online sell them, and that is where I have bought many of my scrabble tile pendants before in the past. Most places are pretty good. If you’re worried about shopping online, well, don’t be. It’s 2010 now. Many places are totally secure. So no problem there!

A second place to look for these great items is a craft fair. Sometimes they are in your area on a regular basis. If so, good for you! It’s a great place to pick up many cute and unique items that will suit you well. Sometimes the vendors sell them. If not you might want to try asking ahead to see who all will be there. With the price if gas in these tough economic times always going up, it would not be too fun to drive somewhere and leave empty handed.

The final place to look is at a local boutique or some other similar store. Many times shops with their own designs can sell a scrabble tile pendant with their logo on it. There is one downside to this though. If you do not like the logos, well, you might not like what you get. Just keep that in mind.

How much should it cost? Well, that depends. A single pendant with just an image and nothing else might cost between $7-10. That would be a pretty good bargain. Especially since those are made with the resin and will last much longer.

If you want to know how much a chain cost, that is a little more to add. A chain might cost about $3 more to the total cost. It’s a pretty good deal I think because I do not like making them myself.

About Scrabble Tile Pendants

“Wow! What’s that? Can I see it?”

I get this all time. People just seem to really enjoy a good scrabble tile pendant. People at work or soccer practice always want to look at them.

Basically, scrabble tile pendants are a type of jewelry. They are made though from a scrabble tile. That’s what makes them pretty cool. It provides a nice backing that won’t be too heavy. Plus it’s a good weight.

The image you buy can be a custom design, or a shop’s special design. It really is up to whatever you want to wear :)

You can also get special necklaces for them. Pretty common are bails, ballchains, or a snake chain. Sorry I am a little vague, but the real beauty is you can do whatever you want lol. Any kind of chain, any kind of design. The sky is the limit here!

There are 2 other things to keep in mind about scrabble tile pendants.

The first thing to remember is to not get them too wet. For example the shower isn’t a good place for them. It’s because they are wood a tile on the back, it soaks up water I think. This makes the image get messed up. Not cool. So ladies – just remember – always take them off before swimming or showering.

The next thing is to keep in the mind the covering on them. If you buy scrabble tile pendants alot you learn to tell which ones are good. The good scrabble tile pendants have resin on the front. It makes it last longer and protects the image from getting damaged.

Some scrabble tile pendants are made with something else. Not sure what it is, but I know it isn’t resin. Here’s a story. I bought one that wasn’t made with resin. It lasted sadly only about one week before it just got beat up too much. The “not resin” as I like to call it just did not work out for me. Too bad. it was a pretty design.

Scrabble Tile Pendant Accessories

So you have a giant collection of this wonderful scrabble jewelry – now what do you do?

Well, there are few things you can do. First off – how do you store and manage all these scrabble tile pendants?

Some people like to keep their jewelry in a jewelry case, a jewelry drawer, or some other special box. That can work well for these tile pendants since they often come with chains.

But if you don’t always buy the chains you can easily end up with more pendants than chains. So here’s an idea: store your scrabble tile pendants in a wooden row. The same row that is used to store the tiles when you are playing the scrabble board game. It looks really cute and cool to see them all lined up in a row. It also saves space. And it allows you to quickly see each and every design you have bought, so when you are ready to choose a pretty one, they are right there waiting for you ready to go.

You can check garage sales for the old wooden tile holders. That’s where I got mine.

Sometimes you can also store them in felt baggies. I have found these for sale at craft stores. Price is good pretty good on them. The only downside is sadly I can’t see them all easily.

What are some other scrabble tile pendant accessories?

I like to buy ballchains for mine. You can get them in many different colors too, so you can really mix and match everything. It is nice when I want to match the colors to what I’m wearing.

You can also get ribbon necklaces made. Or special other types of chains.

Another accessory I’ve seen is what I like to call scrabble tile pendant bling. Ha! Basically, you ice out your scrabble tile. You can get little pieces of glitter, rhinestones, and things like that. Then you attach it in an inconspicuous place so it won’t get in the way of the image. For example, you might put it off to the side. Or below the image.

Advanced Tutorial for Scrabble Tile Pendants

The following action would be to spread a little drop of Diamond Glaze adhesive onto the blank side with the Scrabble tile. You are able to use a paint brush or just spread the glaze close to using the tip with the bottle. Then place your cut out cardstock onto the tile. (Make certain the letter about the back isn’t upside down.) Let it dry for 10 to 20 minutes.

Once the adhesive is dry, hold the Scrabble tile so the letter faces you and also the cardstock is about the other side. Use scissors to carefully trim the excess cardstock off to ensure that the cardstock fits the tile precisely.

Apply a generous coat of Diamond Glaze to seal the cardstock and give your pendant a glossy glass like shine. It’s greatest not to make use of a paint brush for this action but to just spread the glaze using the tip with the bottle. If any bubbles form just pop them using the back of the paint brush or slide them off with the tile. Should you want, you are able to now embellish your pendant with tiny crystals, beads, or glitter. Now let it dry for at least 4 hours.

Following, apply several drops of E6000 Jewelry Adhesive (or super glue) towards the silver bail and attach it towards the back (letter side) of the Scrabble tile. Make certain that the bail is precisely centered.

Let the bail dry for a couple of hours and you’re ready to appreciate your handmade Scrabble-tile pendant!
